FMIS renews Cyber Essentials Certification for 2023-24

UPDATE: FMIS announces Cyber Essentials Plus Certification for 2024.

In an era where cyber threats are ever-looming, ensuring robust data security is paramount. FMIS has a strong track record ensuring the highest security standards are built into the company culture. Our commitment to compliance with externally audited standards such as Cyber Essentials is a key part of maintaining that culture, and we are pleased to confirm that we have completed our Cyber Essentials Certification for another year through 2024.

Cyber Essentials certification is widely recognised across the UK and offers assurance about data security across the FMIS suite of products, including Fixed Asset Management, Asset Tracking, and Equipment Maintenance (CMMS). Here we have a brief look at what certification means, why it matters and who needs to know about it, and provide contact information if you have any questions about FMIS Data security.

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber threats. The certification covers five key areas of cybersecurity: boundary firewalls and internet gateways, secure configuration, access control, malware protection, and patch management. By addressing these core technical controls, the Cyber Essentials scheme aims to provide organisations with a basic yet effective level of protection against a wide array of common cyber threats, thereby promoting a more secure online environment.

Who is Cyber Essentials for?

The Cyber Essentials certification is designed to provide assurance for a diverse range of client organisations, particularly those that handle sensitive or personal data and operate in sectors where data security is paramount. This includes financial institutions, healthcare providers, educational establishments, and government contractors. Additionally, businesses that are part of larger supply chains and, thus, must demonstrate a solid cybersecurity posture to their partners and stakeholders will find value in this certification. The assurance of having fundamental cybersecurity measures in place is beneficial for both small and larger organisations aiming to mitigate the risk of common cyber threats and ensure a secure operational environment.

FMIS’ Commitment to Data Security

Our recently renewed Cyber Essentials certification is but one element of our unwavering commitment to uphold stringent cyber security measures and best practices in information security. Alongside Cyber Essentials, our ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certifications further exemplify this commitment. Collectively, these certifications reflect our proactive stance in safeguarding sensitive and personal information, thereby ensuring our clients’ peace of mind when entrusting us with their data.

Compliance and Due Diligence

FMIS’ adherence to the Cyber Essentials scheme underscores our compliance with recognized cybersecurity frameworks. This is particularly salient for clients with legal or contractual obligations requiring their suppliers to meet certain cybersecurity standards. Our certification exemplifies due diligence in aligning with these requisite standards.

Supply chain security

Supply Chain Security

Our Cyber Essentials certification extends beyond our organisation to embody a holistic approach to supply chain security. As part of this approach, FMIS mandates that our suppliers adhere to the same high data security standards that we do, ensuring a robust security framework throughout our supply chain. This concerted effort ensures that data remains secure at every juncture, further fortifying the overall integrity and security of our clients’ data.

Alignment with Best Practices

Clients value our alignment with recognized cybersecurity best practices, reflecting a proactive and responsible approach towards cyber threats. This alignment underscores our continual endeavour to stay abreast of best practices in cybersecurity, ensuring an enhanced level of protection.
