Creating a Bill of Materials in Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint or Ajera

Unlike Costpoint, Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint and Ajera do not readily allow firms to create Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOMs) or Engineering Bills of Material (EBOMs). Creating and managing BOMs typically requires manual a process that is both time consuming and inefficient. FMIS Solutions for Deltek allow firms to create BOMs that are seamlessly linked with the relevant project information held in Deltek, removing the need for complex spreadsheets and manual workarounds.

Time-saving

Engineers can create and save BOM templates and then tailor them specifically to a project specification. Using a template speeds up the design process and reduces the effort needed to create a Bill of Materials for future projects. Components required in the bill can be allocated directly from stock or ordered with a single click using the FMIS Order Processing module.

End-to-end Tracking

FMIS allows Engineers and Project Managers to track the status of a BOM and all its components from quote stage through delivery to the end client. Because each BOM is linked directly to a project, phase and task in Deltek, changes can be reported in real time without the need for double data entry.

Change management ensures that every amend is not only tracked but is handled using flexible change orders designed to reflect the constantly changing nature of complex engineering projects.

Matching supply and demand

Every BOM is linked back to the FMIS Product Catalogue giving engineers real-time visibility on the availability of each component. Just In Time (JIT) stock control will help to ensure that routinely used components can be maintained in stock using minimum order levels and automated replenishment, so projects are never delayed due to ‘out of stock’ materials.

Multi-level BOMs

For complex manufacturing, it may be necessary to create multi-level BOMs. FMIS allows users to set up parent-child relationships within a BOM to create flexible BOM structures to any level. For bills that are no longer required, Engineers can simply disband a BOM and return the component parts to stock for allocation to other projects.
